A combo post, because it took me so darned long remember that, for Reasons I Guess, the 'summon spectral cat' spell does not show in the spellbook, it's just... on the mage. "Oh," I says, "he must not have it yet. Oh well. Keep studying!" So once I finally got the danged cat, I was not waiting longer than necessary to line up the title card shot.

Both the Around The Sims Cat Cafe cat bed and Thunderwitch's Yarn Ball cat toy come in my usual deluxe crayon box of 82 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals, Aelia Autumn, and CuriousB Any Color You Like actions, with the bed being done in a shaded Magpie Linen and the ball of yarn over a new wool-yarn texture. That I did not save in any useful-for-crediting way. Well done me. Read on! )

Last one for the night, bringing the Buy Mode Blitz tag up to a nice round 50! (But it's the last one for the night, I do still have a few more things that need uploading. I need a toddler for a couple of things-- though that's clothing-- and a kid for a couple more Buy Mode Blitz items, and a cat, and to build a temporary set, and a honeymoon if I want a title card in use. But I am getting toward the end of things.)

Kativip's Legend Series City (I think it's still Legend Series by the time LS got to City) Table and Bench were texture-referenced by the inimitable Darkmoon, and "retextured" in a combination of Piggi's Wood 03, Kativip's original extracted textures from whatever game she extracted these from, and judicious use of the Motion Blur filter. Because the original textures have beautiful carving, but were otherwise... crispy. Read on! )

This, uh, this is a real short one, guys. (Only one more post coming tonight, and I dunno if anything tomorrow, I have real-world errands. Maybe. More this month, I seem to be trying to get everything posted that's in any condition to be posted.)

Kativip's LS City Wall Decor 01 is a swagged banner, and comes in 82 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals, Aelia Autumn, and CuriousB ACYL colors over Magpie's linen. Texture size has been doubled-- from 64x128 to 128x256, so it's not THAT big a difference. Read more! )

Rebecah's functional knitting requires FreeTime, increases Creativity skill, and adds Art enthusiasm-- and when your Sim is finished knitting, they can either sell their project for $100, or get $100 towards the purchase of a new outfit.

Not bad, really!

The yarn textures are Beck's own; I was pretty happy with them. The knitting needles are Piggi's Wood 18-- I didn't keep track of what colors I used with which yarn, but they're all one of the following Pooklet Naturals: Depth Charge, Incendiary, Explosive, Safety Fuse, Volatile, Fission, Grenade, or Comburent. And importantly, recolors only work on the yarnball object, not the accessory that manifests in your Sim's hands while knitting.

Is this historically accurate? )

Mog Hughson's Novel-Writing Manuscript allows Sims to write a novel longhand-- you know, the old-fashioned way, before typewriters and computers and crystal ball or 'pile of books' computers. Midgethetree's Practice Writing update allows Sims to build creativity by writing in Mog's manuscript without actually writing anything... salable? Cohesive?

But anyway!

I recolored it for Buy Mode Blitz. Because why wouldn't I? Read on! )

When I started Buy Mode Blitz, there were exactly three trash compactors out there that were truly suitable for a Medieval game: This one, the SDA Castle Kitchen one, and Hriveresse's Greek Kitchen one. This was the first one I recolored, and one I talked to Fractured Moonlight about at some point-- because as I was bemoaning the lack of under-counter appliances (there was, at one time, one Medieval dishwasher), Frac decided to kick this mesh around and add a second subset to it for me.

So you have options!

Both variations on the theme of trash compactor here use the same GUID. There can be only one. If you use the Original mesh with the Frac Edit recolors, only recolors of the bin will show. If you use the Original recolors with the Frac Edit mesh, not only will only the bin show, but you will have eight identical iterations of the same two bin textures. It won't hurt anything, but last mesh loaded wins. Read more! )

Why are these Stone Soup Robes? Because these are-- deep breath now--

Simborg's two-group edit of JellyMeduza's MtF edit of Cynnix's FantasyRogue Poulaines edit of Oph3lia's morphed cross-less edit of Aligeth's Friar Tuck robe. With texture credits to Sherahbim (wool), Magpie (linen), Aligeth (a little of the cowl, still) and Iamliz13 (belt), as well as FantasyRoge (shoes) and my very own self (hose).

They come to you for CU (Cynnix), TF (Meduza), TM (Cynnix), YAEF (Meduza), and YAEM (Cynnix), fat morphs all around and I think pregmorphs for teen and up, in 82 Pooklet Project Mayhem, Aelia Autumn, and CuriousB Any Color You Like actions, texture-referenced (Skell-style, with the textures in their own packages) because I wouldn't do that to myself, much less you.

So what in the heck are these? Are they historically adequate? Why are they unisex?

Well.

COMBO BREAKER-- a brief break from Buy Mode Blitz for clothing, because I could get shots of the clothing but I noticed some things that I did not install properly so I couldn't get screenshots of them without restarting my game. Because that's how it goes sometimes.

And these have been sitting in my Projects Folder since 2016, not even started, which is terribly unfair because they were way easier than I expected.

So, my first stop for visual inspiration is always Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, especially the calendar section (showing not only the Duke de Berry and his companions, but commoners as well). January in particular is a gorgeous image for what I'm bringing you today, because it is full of richly-dressed noble men at a New Year's party. They got chains of state, they got chaperons and bag hats, they got some funky haircuts, they got kidney bags and bollock daggers, they got two servants in livery, they got dagged hoods and cowls, they got fur lining, they got damask and cloth-of-gold and embroidery, they got a greyhound in a collar, they got plaited rush mats on the floor, they got a wicker fire screen, they got a danged tourney happening in the background, and except on the two liveried servants?

Every visible foot is in soled hosen. Read more! )

CTNutmegger's tablecloths (texture-referenced by hkaw, you're getting every mesh I found) come in the lead 1x2, 1x1 round, 1x1 square, 1x2 again but slightly lowered/remapped, and 1x3 versions. I have done them in 85 colors (Pooklet Project Mayhem natural, Aelia Autumn, and CuriousB Any Color You Like full sets, with a bonus of Aelia's Eco Ecru, Vanilla, and Beige to round out my usual eight linens) all on Magpie's linen texture. Yes, including things like Flash Powder, Mango, and Chocolate. Your Sims' wedding colors are their business, not mine. Or maybe you need to set up a trade show or something where every table has to have a flame-retardant tablecloth and vendors do like to stand out by using different colors (my tablecloths for miniature shows are black).

There are two versions, one with a simple hem that isn't denoted in any way, and FANCY, which has a strip of darker-self-embroidery. My original goal was to get that fancy version a lot fancier, but my notes say that would've taken making the textures, like, four times larger, and nobody wants that when I've gone and made 170 of the things. Eva's Cauldron Stove (with fix by Sunni) comes in twelve awkwardly-labeled Sunni Wizard's Tower metals, with three new food textures each-- boiling water, a plain grain pottage, and pease porridge (okay actually it's zucchini soup, but it was the only image I could find that was the right color and consistency and didn't have Fancy Plating swirls of sour cream) for a total of 36 reasonably historical recolors.

... And when I say 'reasonably historical,' I mean that while this IS a very accurate cauldron, Eva did a great job there, and Sunni's metals are pretty fantastic... I'm pretty sure a cauldron this big wouldn't have come in quite so many metals, and frankly 'Blueish' and 'Cloudy' look a little galvanized for the Middle Ages. (Also I'm pretty sure that a silver cauldron was... not a thing at all. But listen if your witches WANT one, here it is!) Read on! )

Maylin's Church Lectern comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over a blend of Piggi's Wood 03 and my SDA/Piggi Castle Kitchen wood (the straight-up kitchen wood didn't work as well as I wanted on its own, so it got a double-dose of Piggi 03).

Clocking in at a clean-lined 162 polys, this lectern is a useful alternative to some of the high-poly or weird meshes out there. ... That said, it does have its problems-- )

Normally on these Buy Mode Blitz items, I have a little page of notes-- research and whatnot, comments, credits, things that occurred to me while I was making the thing that I wanted to share when I posted the thing.

I... do not have one of those files for this. Which is a pity, because dang those make useful little cheat sheets. Particularly since this is a big 'please trust me' post, because a) I hid the original Basegame Kinder Kontainer crib years ago and b) when I unhid it, it turned out I had a mod that texture-referenced it to the regular bedding.

Oh well.

Luckily I do have a fair few custom meshes that reference the basegame crib bedding! Which is what this is, the Kinder Kontainer basegame crib-- the only Maxis crib until FreeTime, because I'm not sure anyone at Maxis over the last three installments of The Sims has ever gone baby shopping-- bedding only, retextured very simply with Magpie's linen, in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals, 20 Aelia Autumn actions, and 42 CuriousB Any Color You Like actions.

Why do I need so many recolors of this thing? Well! )

Ah, Skyrim. I'm sure it's a wonderful game. My chiefest exposure to it comes from conversions for Sims 2. This edition of Buy Mode Blitz includes three stoves Sunni extracted from Skyrim, two of them in Sunni's own Wizard's Tower metals-- or at least half of them.

A pretty bare-bones shot, there, but as you can see, the available stoves are Pot, Spit, and Cauldron. Still! Stove options are always nice, and there are few enough out there that I think work really well. ... Even if these are... well, I don't know how cooking works in Skyrim, but these are more 'useful for Sims' than 'flawlessly historically accurate. So let's look at them individually. )

Once Upon A Time, long long ago when I could still remember my login information for Garden of Shadows, Darkmoon texture-referenced a lot of really nifty furniture pieces together for me. One-- er, two of those pieces are right here-- a bench and a table from Kativip's Legend Series SD02 pack of extracted meshes from I-don't-know-what-game.

Look at these, man. Classy and rich-looking while still being used-looking. You can't really use them like this, of course, the bench is a loveseat and the table is... uh, a standard two-tile table. But I kept most of the original textures, only overlaying them with some Piggi Wood 03 for grain. And I'm very pleased with how they turned out! Come see more! )

Beck's functional butter churn here is another one that feels a little redundant in the face of Sun & Moon goodies-- this time, Buttered Up. ... And this time it feels redundant even to me because I do like Buttered Up. But these recolors were finished before that set happened and maybe somebody out there needs these.

So, with Beck's butter churn, you don't need a cow, it just... assumes there's cream, I guess? Making it useful if you don't have the patience for livestock or hunting down ingredients, but want to turn your Sims' effort into food. Read on! )

"Hat," you say, "Didn't Sun & Moon release a huge laundry set? Why are you adding this little thing to Buy Mode Blitz and not something cool like that?"

To which I say, one, I recolored this before Loads O' Laundry dropped, two, if I'd recolored Sun & Moon stuff it'd probably be in the 'member recolors' section where it's supposed to be, and three... Loads O'Laundry taught me a very valuable lesson, and that lesson is: I don't have to use everything Sun & Moon releases.

So what is Beck's functional laundry tub, and how does it differ from Sun & Moon's Loads O' Laundry, and why should anyone care, and why are there only three recolor textures on this thing, Hat, seriously, that's not like you. Well... )

There are a lot of Body Shop pics in this one-- bear with me, I'm still working with a testerhood that has like nine playables in it, a work-in-progress chemistry mod causing gentle errors, and a graphics card (whose control center I still can't open) that, should the game go 'hang on you moved that camera really fast, I have to catch up,' responds by blurring my clothing textures. At this point I am just. Skittering around the three households and couple-odd community lots in my tiny, slightly buggy testerhood looking for things I can take title card pics of real quick and still call them an upload or a set. (Single items feel really weird to upload, for some reason.)

Kativip's Legend Series (if that's still what LS meant by that point) SD02 Round table, chair, and barstool were all graciously texture-referenced some years ago by the inimitable Darkmoon, because I wanted 20 recolors of them but I didn't want sixty texture files to get them. The textures are a blend of the originals, extracted from whatever game it was Kativip extracted these from, plus a very subtle layer of Piggi Wood 03, to help give them more of a grain. So these are! FantasyRogue's chausses, with Yuxi's Beth Dragon Age boots added by Kalynn, and converted to Child by Charity, with the boots snugged up against the leg by Simborg. They are super repositoried because it was highly convenient; the chausses-with-boots have two groups, the chausses and the boots, and hey! the chausses are mapped exactly the same as FR's originals... and thus the same as my big ol' 82-pack.

These boots were made for a really easy recoloring job. )
